Punjab Government Establishes PMU for Major Urban Development Program, Announces Multiple Contractual Positions
LAHORE: In a significant move to upgrade urban infrastructure across the province, the Government of Punjab has announced the establishment of a Program Management Unit (PMU) under the Chief Minister’s Punjab Development Program. The primary focus of this initiative is to provide comprehensive sewerage and storm water drainage facilities in major cities throughout Punjab.
According to an official announcement, the development objective is to strengthen the performance of Local Governments (LGs) by improving urban sectors, specifically wastewater collection and stormwater management. The program aims to protect public health, prevent water pollution, manage flooding, and safeguard infrastructure by efficiently treating both wastewater and stormwater runoff.
To ensure professional execution and quality control, the newly established PMU is seeking applications from qualified, experienced professionals for several contractual positions. The vacancies range from engineering and IT to GIS analysis and coordination roles.
Available Positions and Requirements
The PMU is hiring for the following key roles:
· Regional Engineer (Civil), North, South & Centre (PPS-10): One slot available. Requires a BE/BSc in Civil Engineering (higher degree preferred) with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience. Maximum age limit is 65 years.
· Manager (IT) (PPS-09): One slot. Requires 16 years of education or higher in IT/Computer Science/Software Development, with minimum 7 years of relevant experience. Age limit: 50 years.
· Manager (Contracts) (PPS-09): One slot. Requires 16 years of education in Civil Engineering/Business/Management studies, along with 10 years of relevant experience. Age limit: 65 years.
· Chief Quantity Surveyor/Draftsman (PPS-08): Two slots. Requires a Diploma of Associate Engineer in Civil or Draftsman qualification, with 12 years of experience. Age limit: 65 years.
· Coordination Officer (PPS-07): One slot. Requires 16 years of education and 7 years of experience. Age limit: 65 years.
· Quantity Surveyor (PPS-07): Eleven slots. Requires a Diploma of Associate Engineer or higher degree in Civil Engineering, with 7 years of experience. Age limit: 65 years.
· Technical Assistant/Senior Sub-Engineer (PPS-07): Six slots. Requires a Diploma of Associate Engineer (Civil) or higher, with 10 years of experience. Age limit: 65 years.
· GIS Analyst (PPS-06): Sixteen slots. Requires 16 years of education in GIS/Remote Sensing/IT/CS/Space Sciences, with at least 2 years of experience. Age limit: 40 years.

All appointments are purely contractual for a period of two years, extendable based on program continuation and satisfactory performance. Degrees from foreign or local institutions must be recognized by the HEC or PEC as applicable. Government employees must apply through the proper channel and produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of the interview.
The competent authority reserves the right to increase, decrease, or cancel any post without assigning any reason.
