SECP Announces Top-Level Opening for Director of Mergers & Restructuring


The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has announced a prominent career opportunity for senior finance and legal professionals, inviting applications for the position of Director in its Mergers & Restructuring Department.

The vacancy represents a key leadership role within the country’s corporate regulatory framework, focusing on high-stakes financial and legal transactions.

Stringent Eligibility Criteria

Reflecting the seniority and complexity of the role, the SECP has established rigorous qualification and experience requirements:

· Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to 16 years of education) in Accounting, Finance, or Law from a university recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Alternatively, qualified CAs, CMAs, or ACCAs are also eligible to apply.
· Professional Experience: Applicants must possess at least 15 years of demonstrable post-qualification experience in corporate finance or corporate/financial restructuring. A critical preference is for candidates with three years of hands-on experience managing financial or legal transactions related to mergers, amalgamations, and other schemes of arrangement under company law. For Chartered Accountants, articleship will be counted toward the requisite experience.

Contract Terms and Age Limit

The position comes with a specific employment structure. The appointment will be made on a three-year contractual basis, which is extendable based on organizational needs and performance. However, the Commission may consider regularization of the position after the three-year term, subject to the candidate fulfilling prescribed criteria.

The maximum age limit for applicants is 50 years as of the closing date of the application.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further assessment, which will involve a multi-stage evaluation process. The SECP has also reserved the right to cancel the recruitment and selection process at any stage.
