Planning Commission Announces Senior Leadership Vacancies for Population Monitoring Unit

The Government of Pakistan’s Planning Commission, under the Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, has announced new high-level employment opportunities. As detailed in the advertisement, applications are being invited for contract-based project positions within the “Population, Monitoring & Results Tracking Unit (MTU).”

This initiative falls under the broader project titled “Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening of MoPD&SI.” The initial appointment for these roles is for a period of two years, with the possibility of an extension depending on project continuation and satisfactory performance.

Available Positions and Eligibility Criteria

The commission is looking to fill two key senior positions, both requiring degrees recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and a maximum age limit of 58 years.

1. Unit Head / Team Lead MTU (01 Position)

  • Pay Scale: PPS-12
  • Education: Master’s degree in Public Policy, Management, Finance, Public Health, or a related field. Strong written English communication skills are mandatory.
  • Experience: A minimum of 12 years of experience is required, with at least 5 to 7 years in development planning at a senior position.
  • Preferences: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the health/population sectors, prior work history with the government, delivery units, or international organizations, and experience engaging senior-level development partners and donors.

2. Advisor – Population Strategy and Governance (01 Position)

  • Pay Scale: PPS-11
  • Education: Master’s degree in Public Policy, Management, Data Sciences, Demography, Development Economics, or any other STEM field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in development sector programming or development planning. Candidates must possess excellent writing skills and experience with demographic analysis and interpreting survey data.
  • Preferences: Strong preference will be given to applicants with prior exposure to Pakistan’s population sector government, partners, or research.

  • Selection Process: Only short-listed candidates (selected on the order of merit) will be contacted for an interview. Incomplete applications will be rejected automatically.
  • Travel Allowance: No TA/DA will be provided for the interview process.
