Karachi College Directorate Announces 448 Lab Assistant Posts

KARACHI – The Directorate of College Education, Karachi Region, has issued a formal advertisement (No. DCE/K/Admin/9778/2026) inviting applications for 448 vacant positions of Laboratory Assistant (BPS-07).

Published on April 16, 2026, the notice offers a significant recruitment opportunity for residents of the Karachi Division who hold the required domicile.

According to the advertisement, candidates must have passed an Intermediate Science examination (at least Grade ‘C’) from a recognized board. The vacancies are distributed as follows: 335 general merit seats, 22 reserved for minorities, 22 for disabled persons, 67 for females, and 2 for transgender individuals.

Mandatory STS Screening Test

A key requirement for eligibility is the General Screening Test (Graduation Category) conducted by Sukkur IBA Testing Services (STS). Applicants must have secured at least 40% marks and possess a valid STS certificate.

The government has extended the validity of STS test results for Intermediate categories (from January and June 2023) until June 30, 2028. Additionally, age relaxation rules have been clarified based on when candidates applied for the STS test:

· Those who applied before the 2024 age relaxation rules (closing date Nov. 30, 2021): Eligible for 15 years of general age relaxation, with age calculated from Nov. 30, 2021.
· Those who applied after the 2024 rules (closing date Nov. 21, 2025): Eligible for 5 years of general age relaxation, with age calculated from Nov. 21, 2025.

The standard age limit for the post is 18 to 28 years, subject to the relaxations above.

Application Process and Instructions

Interested candidates must apply online exclusively through the Government of Sindh’s Job Portal at https://sjp.gos.pk within 15 days of the advertisement’s publication (dated April 16, 2026).

Other important instructions for applicants include:

· Government servants must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their department before applying and present the original copy at the interview.
· Appointment will follow the Sindh government’s policy notified on April 26, 2023, along with the Sindh Civil Servants Act 1973 and its rules.
· Candidates will be called for interview before a Departmental Selection Committee as per a schedule to be posted on the job portal.
· Original documents must be brought to the interview.
· No TA/DA will be provided.
