Government of Sindh Seeks Top Talent for Coastal Resilience Project
The Planning & Development Department of the Government of Sindh has officially announced two high-level job openings for a major donor-funded initiative, the Sindh Coastal Resilience Sector Project (SCRP). An Expression of Interest (EOI) was issued to recruit a Project Director and a Deputy Project Director to lead the project’s livelihood and community infrastructure components.
These key positions will be based in Karachi but require frequent travel to the coastal districts of Badin, Sujawal, and Thatta, which are central to the project’s focus on building resilience against climate and economic challenges.
Eligibility and Requirements
The government is seeking highly qualified professionals with strong backgrounds in development, management, or economics.
· Education: Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Social or Management Sciences, an MBA, Economics, Development Studies, Public Administration, or a related field from an HEC-recognized university.
· Experience: The ideal candidate will have at least 12 years (for Project Director) or 8 years (for Deputy Project Director) of relevant experience. This should include work on policy reform, value chain development, and labor market or employment generation. A deep understanding of Sindh’s coastal districts is critical, as is experience in participatory development, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E), and financial management.
· Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills in English, Urdu, and Sindhi are mandatory, along with proficiency in IT tools like word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
· Other Requirements: Applicants must have a second division or higher throughout their academic career, hold a valid Sindh Province Domicile/PRC, and be under 60 years of age by the application closing date.
Contract and Compensation
The appointments will be made on a purely contractual basis, following the Government’s Project Pay Scale (PPS-10 for Project Director, PPS-09 for Deputy Project Director). The initial contract is for three years, with the possibility of extension based on annual performance reviews.
