National Bank of Pakistan Announces Career Opportunity for Unit Head – WhatsApp Banking
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), widely recognized as “The Nation’s Bank,” has released a new career opportunity for experienced professionals in the digital banking sector. The bank is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Unit Head – WhatsApp Banking at the grade of AVP or VP, based in Karachi.
In line with its strategic vision to transform into a future-fit, agile, and sustainable institution, NBP aims to strengthen its digital banking capabilities. The selected individual will report to the Wing Head of Digital Banking & ADC and will play a key role in driving the bank’s WhatsApp channel as a core component of its customer engagement strategy.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the position must meet the following basic requirements:
· Education: Minimum graduation (or equivalent) from an HEC-recognized institution. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
· Experience: At least 6 years of experience in banking, financial institutions, telecom, fintech, or a relevant field. Within this, a minimum of 3 years must be specifically in WhatsApp Banking, mobile app, SMS banking, USSD channels, digital payments, or payment schemes. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in WhatsApp Banking and payment ecosystems.
Key Skills Required
The bank is looking for professionals with strong analytical and technical skills, leadership and communication abilities, and a solid understanding of digital banking products, services, regulations, governance, and compliance frameworks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Unit Head will be responsible for:
· Strategic planning and execution to grow the bank’s WhatsApp channel in alignment with organizational goals.
· Increasing registration, usage, and customer engagement on the WhatsApp platform.
· Improving product features, benefits, and overall customer experience.
· Collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to introduce value-added services.
· Ensuring operational efficiency with secure, customer-centric processes.
· Managing risk and compliance, including fraud controls and regulatory adherence.
· Working with marketing and branch teams to drive WhatsApp adoption through promotional activities.
· Tracking KPIs such as registrations, transactions, and new feature enablement, and providing management reports.
· Staying updated on market trends and competitive developments to support data-driven innovation.
· Fostering cross-functional collaboration for timely project execution.
· Performing any other assignments as directed by supervisors.
